Cold Meat Movie Story
opens during a fierce blizzard in the Colorado Rockies. David Petersen, a traveler caught in the storm, stops at a roadside diner. There, he encounters Ana, a waitress dealing with her abusive ex-husband. David intervenes and manages to defuse the situation, appearing as a calm and charming hero. However, David's benevolence is merely a façade. Shortly after leaving the diner, the film's narrative takes a sharp turn, revealing that David has chloroformed and abducted Ana, secreting her in the trunk of his car, twisting the tale from a stranger-on-stranger thriller into a claustrophobic nightmare. The situation becomes drastically more complicated and deadly when David's car skids on an icy road and crashes into a deep snowbank, stranding them completely in the middle of the frozen wilderness with no cell service and sub-zero temperatures. When Ana manages to escape the trunk, the power dynamics between them flip. They are now trapped together in the disabled car, with Ana holding David hostage. A brutal survival battle against the deadly elements and a fierce, psychological game of wits within the confined space begins, where Ana must keep David alive to ward off the cold while trying to uncover his sinister plan.
As their life-or-death struggle continues, David begins to experience recurring and terrifying nightmares of himself covered in blood and an ancient, monstrous beast. Ana then reveals a local native legend about an evil spirit that emerges from the woods during times of famine, preying on the souls driven to cannibalism, and that the creature appears first in dreams. Eventually, David reveals his true predatory nature and homicidal threat against Ana's daughter. As the human-sourced horror reaches its climax, the film shifts into a supernatural element when the creature of the woods returns, dragging David out into the darkness, leaving Ana to battle the lethal cold alone while willing herself to stay awake until rescue arrives.
